This piece is 20.065" x 22" x 22". It is one of two artist's proofs from Robert Rauschenberg's personal collection in a custom protective Lucite enclosed frame/shield on a one of a kind original handmade block pedestal/stand with movalble casters made by Rauschenberg for this piece. Hand painting and silkscreen ink printed on mirrored aluminum with cast sterling silver and two (2) lapis lazuli stones. The Araucan Indians, descendents of the Incas, worked with silver. Mestaba is a pre-Egyptian pyramid sculpture which incorporates truncated walls and a flat top  c. 1986. E002.AP  Edition of 25*

Born with the name Milton Rauschenberg in Port Arthur, Texas, Robert Rauschenberg became one of the major artists of his generation and is credited along with Jasper Johns of breaking the stronghold of Abstract Expressionism*. 

Rauschenberg was known for assemblage*, conceptualist methods, printmaking, and willingness to experiment with non-artistic materials--all innovations that anticipated later movements such as Pop Art*, Conceptualism*, and Minimalism
